December 2010 Exemplary Reference Awards

The Quality Assurance Workgroup is happy to award the following transcripts for the December 2010 Exemplary Reference Awards. Transcripts were awarded in three categories: Best Detailed Chat, Best Brief Chat, and Best Teaching Chat.

The three winning transcripts are at: http://askalibrarian.org/blog/dec2010exemplarytranscripts/

Brief Exemplary Chat: Ursula Bouroncle, Broward County Library System
Ursula helps this student navigate Noodle Tools for her articles retrieved from ERIC database—student is very thankful.  :  )

Detailed Exemplary Chat: Brian Jaudon, Tampa-Hillsborough Public Library
Brian was patient and helpful finding and explaining literary devices to a high school student.

Teaching Exemplary Chat: Diana Mathews, Santa Fe College
Diana encourages this student as she walks him through the steps of finding scholarly articles on global warming and its effect on animals. She displays humor as she teaches this student not only how to find articles but also how to cite his sources by using the links in Academic Search Complete. Student says ” thanks you are a life save”. I really like Diana’s style of teaching…keep it up Diana!

Congratulations to our winners!
