The Quality Assurance Workgroup has been hard at work and has awarded the following transcripts for June Exemplary Reference Awards. Transcripts were awarded in three categories: Best Detailed Chat, Best Brief Chat, and Best Teaching Chat. The three winning transcripts are at: http://askalibrarian.org/blog/?page_id=1743
Exemplary Brief Chat: Ann Lindell, University of Florida. Ann quickly finds reliable websites on Fl acquifers and directs student to contact her library for databases she can use.
Exemplary Detailed Chat: Chad Mairn, St Petersburg College. Chad took his time working with a student from SPC in finding biographical information about a person who was difficult to research. Chad covered many bases including finding the student a book by the person at a local public library, teaching the student to use databases to search, and sending information from a Google Book.
Exemplary Teaching Chat: Nola Pettit, University of Central Florida. Good explanation for a tough subject ; Nola offered the student many options in the search for peer reviewed articles about a very up-to-date topic.
