The three winning transcripts are at: http://askalibrarian.org/blog/nov2010exemplarytranscripts/

Brief Exemplary Chat: Anne Rice, Monroe County Public Library
Anne R. very quickly showed a student how to use Google’s Advanced search and directed the student in how to limit a search to .edu domain websites.  Anne was encouraging as she worked with the student who was appreciative of the help.

Detailed Exemplary Chat: Bronwyn Main, Ask a Librarian Intern
Although this chat originated through the Collaborative, it was a question from a university student who needed assistance in finding sources on a topic related to the student’s community service. First Bronwyn showed the student some pertinent newspapers sites, and then she directed the student in searching the needed college databases, which previously had not been useful for the student. Bronwyn gave suggestions for keywords and finished the Chat with an invitation to return if more help was needed. The student comment was “keep up the great work.”

Teaching Exemplary Chat: Donna Wrublewski, University of Florida
This was a very long chat. However, it was in keeping with a detailed consultation on a research topic done online. The topic was scholarly and required teaching navigation of specialized databases which Donna did in an orderly patient manner. The student was grateful for her expertise stating “ yes i am finding tons of stuff;  I don’t have any more questions” and finally: “Thanks SO much Donna I appreciate all your help.”

Congratulations to our winners!
